Cameron and his wife, Donna have four children and six grandchildren. Cameron and Donna enjoy camping at State Parks throughout the Midwest, mainly in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. Other activities they enjoy together are antiquing, camping, fishing, visiting wineries, and walking. When the opportunity arises, they love to visit our National Parks. They also have a cabin in central Illinois where they spend a majority of their summers with family and friends.
Cameron graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1987 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree with an emphasis in Landscape Horticulture. He received his Master's of Landscape Architecture Degree in 1993 from Ball State University.
He started his career in 1989 as an intern with the Wheaton Park District, and worked full time there as Assistant Superintendent of Planning from 1990 to 1998. He then worked at the Waukegan Park District from 1998 to 2002 as Manager of Planning Services. For a brief period (2002-2004) Cameron was a sales representative for various manufacturers of park and recreation amenities and equipment. Cameron then went on to become the Superintendent of Planning at the Plainfield Park District from 2004 to 2013, and for a brief period was the Assistant Executive Director.
As of December, 2014 Cameron became the Executive Director at the Pekin Park District.
Cameron has been involved with conservation and environmental groups throughout his career such as Conservation Plainfield from 2004 to 2014, and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association's Environmental Committee. Cameron also was awarded as the 2013 Professional of the Year for the Parks and Natural Resource Management Section of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.
Cameron is elated to be involved with the foundation and wants to see Illinois' outdoor areas become the best in the Midwest in providing educational and recreational opportunities for today's generation and future generations through conservation, preservation, sustainability and accessibility efforts.
