Ken Polhamus graduated High School in 1973. He then served 3 years in the United States Army. He has been married 44 years to his wife Marcia, has 2 sons Kenny & Mike and has 5 Grandchildren.

Ken successfully ran Great Plains Drywall, Inc. for 30 years upon closing in 2012. He is co-owner of Kap Guns, Inc. in Loves Park, IL and has resided in Galena, IL for 14 years.
Ken is a lifetime member of National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, IFOR and Quality Deer Management Association. He currently sits on the Illinois State Boards for IFOR and NWTF and is the IL State JAKES Coordinator. Ken is a Hunter Safety Instructor, NRA Instructor and Illinois Conceal Carry Instructor.

Ken has received numerous awards at the State and National level for his volunteerism and dedication towards getting more youth outdoors. He and his wife were one of six finalists for Field & Streams 2012 "Heroes of Conservation". He was also the recipient for the Marvin Henderson award, the C.B. McLeod Award and was inducted into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame in 2013.
